Biography
Marisa de Brito, PhD, is a senior lecturer and researcher at the School of Leisure and Events (ALE) of Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas) in Breda, the Netherlands. She has worked at other universities in the Netherlands, ISCTE (Portugal), Cambridge University (UK), and has been a research visitor at INSEAD (France). She teaches at various programs in ALE, mainly in the scientific and master programs. She belongs to the research group Placemaking and Events and carries out research regarding the improvement of events and places, minding sustainability approaches, among others. She is a certified Green Events Assessor, and has worked with Dutch and international festivals on the sustainability of Events. Recently she has co-authored an article on the role of leisure, education, the arts and the media on memory of the second world war in Portugal, a chapter on the Sustainability Agenda for Events, in a SAGE book, and an article on blended learning in the educational context. Her publications reflect her broad interest and areas of expertise. She enjoys to learn from the past, and improve the present for a brighter future.
